Do you find yourself at this very moment surrounded with needs, and nearly overwhelmed with difficulties, trials, and emergencies? Each of these is God’s way of providing vessels for the Holy Spirit to fill. If you correctly understand their meaning, you will see them as opportunities for receiving new blessings and deliverance you can receive in no other way.

The Lord is saying to you, “Bring them here to me.” Firmly hold the vessels before Him, in faith and in prayer. Remain still before Him, and stop your own restless working until He begins to work. Do nothing that He Himself has not commanded you to do. Allow God time to work and He surely will. Then the very trials that threatened to overcome you with discouragement and disaster will become God’s opportunity to reveal His grace and glory in your life, in ways you have never known before.

“My God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

What a source—“God!” What a supply—“his glorious riches!” What a channel—“Christ Jesus!” It is your heavenly privilege to trust “all your needs” to his glorious riches, and to forget your needs in the presence of his . . . riches. In His great love, He has thrown open to you His exhaustive treasury. Go in and draw upon Him in simple childlike faith, and you will never again have the need to rely on anything else. C. H. M.

MY CUP OVERFLOWS

There is always something “over,” When we trust our gracious Lord; Every cup is overflowing, His great rivers all are broad.

There is always something “over,” When we, from the Father’s hand, Take our portion with thanksgiving, Praising for the path He planned.

Satisfaction, full and deepening, Fills the soul, and lights the eye, When the heart has trusted Jesus All its needs to satisfy.

There is always something “over,” When we tell of all His love; Unreached depths still lie beneath us, Unscaled heights rise far above:

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).

If this is not a promise in form, it is in fact. Indeed, it is more than one promise, it is a conglom erate of promises. It is a mass of rubies, and emeralds, and diamonds, with a nugget of gold fo r their setting.

It is a question which can never be answered so as to cause us any anxiety of heart. W hat can the Lord deny us after giving us Jesus? If we need all things in heaven and earth, He w ill grant them to us: for if there had been a limit anywhere, He would have kept back His own Son.

What do I want today? I have only to ask for it. I may seek earnestly, but not a s if I had to use pressure and extort an unwilling gift from the Lord's hand; for He will give freely. Of His own He gave us His own Son. Certainly no one would have proposed such a gift to Him. No one wou ld have ventured to ask for it. It would have been too presumptuous.

He freely gave His Onl y-begotten, and, O my soul, canst thou not trust thy heavenly Father to give thee anything, to give thee everything? Thy poor prayer would have no force with Omnipotence if force were needed; but His lo ve, like a spring, rises of itself and overflows for the supply of all thy needs.

Be ye . . . followers of God, as dear children.—Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.—Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.

After that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour.—The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.—He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
