Preparing God's Word for your heart

Preparing God's Word for your heart
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
It matters not how great the scheme if God draws it out; it matters not how insurmountable the difficulties appear if God undertakes the responsibility.
If we, His children, when we get into tangled corners even by our own folly and sometimes wrongdoing, would only turn to God as a King and as a Father and cast ourselves upon Him, He would work for us and lead us out of our troubles safely and in a manner worthy of a King.
This morning, Lord, I pray Safeguard us through the day, Especially at corners of the way.
For when the way is straight, We fear no sudden fate, But see ahead the evening’s open gate.
But few and far between Are days when all is seen Of what will come, or yet of what has been.
For unexpected things Swoop down on sudden wings And overthrow us with their buffetings.
And so, dear Lord, we pray, Control and guard this day Thy children at the corners of their way.
“CORNERS” BY M. G. L.
Dr. S. D. Gordon says in his writings: “It is a good thing for us to be put in a tight corner. To be pushed and hemmed in on every side until you are forced to stand with your back to the wall, facing a foe at every angle, with barely standing room— that is good. For one thing, you find out that no matter how close the fit of that corner may be, it still can hold another in addition to yourself. Its very tightness brings you and your Lord into the very closest quarters. And only at closest touch will you find out what a wondrous Friend He is.
Tight corners are famous places for chamber concerts. The acoustics are wonderful. David’s exile Psalms have rung out a strangely sweet melody down all the ages, and out through all the world, and into thousands of hearts.
