Be ye . . . followers of God, as dear children.βLove your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.βBe ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
The fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my garden, that the spices thereof may flow out.
Behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge!
Ye know how we exhorted . . . and charged every one of you, that ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
Ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
