Thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.βI know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.βMy thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord .
I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.βAs a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee.βNow no chastening for the present, seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.βHumble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered.βWe suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
